Global Yoga Therapy Day is a day celebrated annually with the intention of raising awareness of yoga therapy while promoting health and well-being.

Most of us have heard that the practice of yoga is good for us. It improves flexibility, strength, coordination and balance. The movements and yoga postures (asana) gently stretch and strengthen the body and improve range of motion, helping to release chronically held tension, improve circulation, and support overall physical health. Breathing techniques (pranayama) and mudra (hand gestures) ease the mind and body, reducing stress and anxiety by calming the nervous system.

Mindful movement, body awareness and breathing practices create present moment focus, allowing individuals to experience sensations in the body and observe their thoughts and emotions with curiosity and compassion. Yoga’s meditative practices promote inner peace, mental clarity, and a deep connection to the self.

The practice of yoga therapy can help individuals reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, manage chronic pain, heal from trauma, and promote overall wellbeing and improved quality of life.
